Atlantic Spotted Dolphins By Hallie Fried

You’re in the tropical waters and you see a couple of splashes and polk-a-dots seem to soar through the air very quickly. You see an Atlantic spotted dolphin. Do you like plain dolphins? Well right now you are going to learn many facts about the Atlantic Spotted Dolphin.

Life Cycle Do you know how Atlantic Spotted Dolphins give birth? Well they have to get together first. Plus the baby is made inside the females stomach. It takes 12 or maybe 11 months to develop. The baby has no spots when it is born. They will get spots when they stop drinking milk out of the females stomach. When Atlantic Spotted Dolphins are in the middle age they start to eat little fish and squid. Eww! As they get older they get more and more spots. A while later the Atlantic Spotted Dolphin gets older and finds a mate and the female gives birth and the cycle goes over again.

Adaptations Did you know that Atlantic Spotted Dolphins have many adaptations? Well you’ll know now. The Atlantic Spotted Dolphin use to have noses like humans but now they have noses on the top of there head now they can breath better. The Atlantic Spotted Dolphin uses sound waves to hear when its prey and predator is coming. The Atlantic Spotted Dolphin is streamlined so they can swim quickly away from the predator.
