Oldway – A Rich History 1923 – The Mansion became Torbay Country Club, with new bowling greens and tennis courts 1872 – Isaac Singer and family moved in to Little Oldway whilst Oldway Mansion was built 1897 – Following Isaac’s death, son Paris began substantial alterations to the Mansion. Achille and Henri Duchenne were employed to realise his vision of a French-inspired scheme, modelled in part on the Palace of Versailles 1914 – Mansion became a War Hospital during the First World War 1946 – Oldway was purchased by Paignton Urban District Council. Refurbishment of the grounds began, and the Mansion was occupied by Council offices

Oldway – A Rich History 2009 – Akkeron set up regeneration arm led by former Urban Splash personnel. Akkeron/Urban Splash formed a partnership to progress plans for Oldway, named Oldway Mansion Ltd – Surveys commissioned by Torbay Council confirmed that the buildings were falling into disrepair – Urban Splash were named preferred developer 2010 – Oldway Mansion Ltd signed a development agreement with Torbay Council, for the purposes of saving Oldway 2011 – Oldway Mansion Ltd and Torbay Council submit joint planning and listed building applications 2012 – Oldway Mansion Ltd and Torbay Council gain planning and listed building approval for their application A planning brief is issued and developers sought

Oldway Mansion, Paignton Mayors Forum - October 2012 Key Regeneration benefits Creates 70 new full time jobs for the Hotel and Grounds; during construction it will take 150 construction jobs to create We are committed to using sustainable, local labour and resources as far as possible Promotes high quality tourism for the Bay; according to a recent IHG study by Oxford economics it calculates that every £1 spent equates to £7 in the wider economy Provides a sustainable long term future for Oldway and its Gardens No public money is required to run or maintain the project once complete The Council receive greater rates income The retention of sporting leisure focus o past decades; Outdoor and Indoor Bowling clubs as well as six hard surface tennis courts The gardens restored to their former glories and designs of Duchene and Meyer By working collaboratively, the final scheme of 101 homes, has altered substantially from the 236 envisaged in 2008, and are contained in the areas proposed by the councils original conservation plan
