 Explosives are used to prevent avalanches  Fences are also put up to guide the snow

 Many homes are lost  Innocent people have died in avalanches

IIIIn Montroc, France 1999 a huge avalanche occurred 33330,000 cubic metres of snow slid down a 30 degree slope IIIIt reached 100km per hour 11112 people were killed

 Ice and rocks fall with the snow and destroys everything in it path  Avalanches can reach over 400km per hour  Avalanches can contain over 3 million cubic metres
