Raising a fearless generation 1 Samuel 30:1-6 2 Timothy 1:1-7

NEGREV & ZIKLAG Ziklag was listed as one of the 29 towns in Negev and was given to the tribe of Simeon It was apparently controlled by the Philistines during King Saul's rule, and was given by King Achish of Gath to David when he was running from Saul. David used it for a home base for raids against various groups who threatened the southern borders of Judah

1 Samuel 30 Verse 1, 2, 3 & 5 Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it. They took captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. (including David's 2 wives) They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way

Verse 4 David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep (men should also cry) David knew the secret of relieving his stress & Sorrow David was anointed the king at age 10 to 13, defeated Goliath at age 18, became the King at age 30 and ruled for 40 years

Verse 6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him since each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the L ORD his God

2 Timothy 1:1-5 Apostle Paul writes to his spiritual son Timothy and informs him the following: -He remembers him in prayers day & night -He longs to see him (it will give him joy) -He recalls his sincere faith (A trait inherited from his grandmother Lois & his mother Eunice)

Verse 5 & 6 Paul encourages Timothy to fan into flame the gift of God. We all have gifts which needs to be cultivated in order to build the body of Christ The Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self- discipline

Summary When things are rough in your life, where do you run to? David turned to God Do you have a spiritual father or Son to provide mentorship? Paul & Timothy were Let us trust in the Lord as we raise a fearless Generation
