Personal Details Name: Wayne Swan Age: 57 Birthday: 30 th June 1954 Sex: Male Background: Swan was born and educated in Nambour, Queensland. He won a Commonwealth scholarship to study public administration at the University of Queensland, becoming a lecturer in t he Department of Management at the Queensland institute of Technology. From 1978 and 1980 Swan was an advisor to the leader of the opposition Bill Hayden, and from 1983 to 1984 was an advisor to federal Labour ministers Mick Young and Kim Beazley. He was Secretary of the Queensland branch of the Australian Labour Party Title: Deputy Prime Minister Party: Australian Labour Party The Honourable Wayne Swan MP was sworn in as treasurer on 3 rd December 2007 and elected unopposed to the position of Deputy Prime Minister on 24 th June 2010.

What electorate does Wayne Swan represent and what they are responsible for?  Wayne swan represent the Lilley electorate of Nundah.  Wayne swan and the labour party are very good people, they are good people because they look after a lot of things and try and make Australia a better place to be.  One of the policies that Wayne Swan is going to put in place is a flood levy. If this flood levy goes in place many people will have to pay more and more money to something that they will not need. Queensland is the worst effect place in the floods many people have gone and helped them clean up. My best friends uncle was in the floods and they were unable to get hold of them in the end they were in hospital recovering so why cannot the money go towards them getting better. Two-thirds of that funding will be delivered through spending cuts. What do you say.

Policies  Superannuation is a big one if you are always paying more money to get more in the account you can also loss a lot to. Many people loss up to a year. It is not often that you can gain money in superannuation.

What political party do they belong to? The Labor Party is a new political party of, by and for working people. It was founded in June 1996 at a convention of 1,400 delegates from hundreds of local and international unions as well as individual activists. We believe that on issues most important to working people – trade, health care, and the rights to organize, bargain and strike – both the Democrats and Republicans have failed working people.

The seat includes Portsea, Sorrento, Rosebud, Hastings, Koo-wee-rup, San Remo and Cowes. It was named after explorer Matthew Flinders, who was the first man to circumnavigate Australia. It is home to suburban development on the Mornington Peninsula as well as rural and semi-rural communities further east. Former members include Prime Minister Stanley Bruce ( , ), Phillip Lynch ( ) and Peter Reith ( , ).

Personal details Greg Hunt is the Shadow Minister for Climate Action, Environment and Heritage. -He has held the seat of Flinders since He holds a Bachelor of Law with First Class Honours from Melbourne University and has been the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to complete a Masters in International Relations at Yale University in the United States. -He has worked at the United Nations Centre for Human Rights, as well as contributing to the development of health and educational programs for those in the developing world, and teaching remedial literacy both in Australia and the United States. -He has also worked as the Associate to the Chief Justice of the Federal Court, and was Australia's Chief Electoral Observer in Cambodia in He was Senior Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer, where he had responsibility for South East Asia, defence, human rights, trade and international law and he was active in the development of an initiative for the removal of landmines. -He is married to Paula and they have one daughter.

What electorate does Wayne Swan represent and what they are responsible for? Greg Hunt is a Shadow Minister for Climate Action, Environment and Heritage; they are members and senators who belong to the opposition party. Although they have no power, they have a responsibility to scrutinise the work of the government and of individual ministers, if there is a change of government after an election the shadow ministers all expect to become ministers.

Policies Childcare- Reduce the Child Care Rebate to help easy cost-of-living pressures on families struggling to meet child care costs. If this means that we have to help the families more so be it. Oppose Unnecessary Ranking Measures for Child Care Centres. We will not proceed with Labour's new national rating system for child care and early childhood education services. Children should only start learning when they are 3 years old when they are at kindergarten. Families- Labour has given people six interest rate increases in just ten months, and Labour continues to put upward pressure on interest rates with record budget deficits. This is going to change we are not going to put them up 6 times in a matter of ten months.

What political party do they belong to? The Liberal Party is a old political party of, by and for The people to make a choice. It was founded in 1944 after a 3 day meeting. He had said that the most important issues that he would consider were giving rights and freedom to the people of the world- This can be used for making the world a better place if they can have more freedom and be able to do things there way.

Chloe’s Evaluation What do you think you did well in this assessment? I think I did well while I was doing the 1A part of the assessment, doing the personal details about Wayne Swan because it wasn’t hard to find and it was really interesting finding out information about him. What do you think you could improve on? I think I could improve on not getting distracted by the people around me and just staying on task not talking to people, just my partner that I’m working with. What do you now know about the characteristics and features of a leader in Australian society? I didn’t know much about the characteristic and features of a leader in an Australian society but I know they can break there promises to the community and states so they can become prime ministers. What do you now know about expressing your views in society? I think its important because the state can get out of control and there will be things going on that you won’t like.

Samantha’s Evaluation What do you think you did well in this assessment? I think that I did well when doing the 1B assessment part as it wasn’t hard when you had your information in front of you. What do you think you could improve on? I think that I could improve on not getting distracted when other people are around. What do you now know about the characteristics and features of a leader in Australian society? I know that they can break there promises to the community and states just so they can become a prime minister in that state being rich ect. This is only one of the main things that they would had liked to become a prime minister for. What do you now know about expressing your views in society? I think that it is very important and if you don’t people could be doing things that you would not like in your state/world.
