Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM CLIC Module Working Group PROTOTYPE TWO-BEAM MODULES (CLEX) Supporting and positioning system for CLEX modules main conclusions from technical meeting with ZTS/Boostec on Participants from CERN: Germana Riddone, Helene Mainaud Durand, Mateusz Sosin, Dmitry Gudkov, Nicolas Chritin

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM Contents 1.3D models for T0-T0-T1 modules (including girders, V-shaped supports, cradles, articulation points, actuators); 2.A detailed presentation for the girders and V-shaped supports: Girder fabrication methodology? Fixation method of the girder to the cradles? Is the number of V-supports in accordance to what was requested by CERN? Is the space reservation (EDMS , step entitled SupSys_Modules_T0-T0-T1.stp) respected in the preliminary design by ZTS?EDMS SupSys_Modules_T0-T0-T1.stp 3.A detailed presentation on the cradles and articulation point (including kinematic analysis); 4.A detailed presentation on the actuators; 5.A detailed presentation regarding the tests that you foresee for the radiation validation of all the materials of the supply, 6.A detailed presentation describing the dimensional controls you foresee for the supporting systems, in particular: What dimensional controls and in how many steps? What equipment you intend to use? Before the technical meeting the list of requested documentation was sent to ZTS/Boostec (N. Gazis): EDMS :

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM 1. 3D models for T0-T0-T1 modules Received 3D models: 1. Horizontal Linear Actuator 2. DB Supporting system for 2xT0 modules (girders, V-shaped supports, cradles, articulation points, actuators) 3. Vertical linear actuator Configuration with T0-T0-T1 was not provided. According to ZTS/Boostec it will be sent before

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM 2. Detailed presentation for the girders and V-shaped supports Girder fabrication methodology Raw powder preparation Cold hydrostatic pressing Drying 3D machining Sintering Grinding Brazing preparation Brazing Final grinding Cleaning Cradle mount Packing Shipment Controls 2*. Two meters size girders will be realized with two one meter half girders brazed together with specific process; 3*. One meter forty size girder will be monolithic; 4. All V-shaped supports will be brazed in the same operation on the girder; 5. Cradles will be bolted on girder: CERN will recommend the supplier for spherical washers (material according to CERN specification); CERN will offer coated fasteners to minimize grip danger in stainless-stainless joints. * - Restrictions 2 and 3 come from the fact that the furnace size is 1.5 m.

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM 2. Detailed presentation for the girders and V-shaped supports Is the number of V-supports in accordance to what was requested by CERN? ZTS/BOOSTEC: Additional V-shaped supports described in TS up-date are requested. The difference of cost and price with Boostec proposal to ZTS with generated additional commercial quotation for MB0 and MB1. Additional V-support unit price is already estimated, formal quotation not sent to ZTS already before final design approval and/or number definitively fixed by CERN. CERN Update W27: The final input 3D model was sent to ZTS The V-support number is fixed. Also it contains information on interconnections design requested on meeting. 7. Is the space reservation (EDMS , step entitled SupSys_Modules_T0-T0-T1.stp) respected in the preliminary design by ZTS/Boostec?EDMS SupSys_Modules_T0-T0-T1.stp ZTS/Boostec: Yes, all space reservation requirements are respected. CERN: We have requested the 3D model containing all supporting system components for T0-T0-T1 configuration for final space approval.

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM 3. A detailed presentation on the cradles and articulation point (including kinematic analysis) The preliminary design of cradles and articulation points is received and archived in the EDMS Kinematic study was partially received; 2.Additionally CERN requested: Text explanation of the kinematic study Top view for kinematic study Study of extremity cases

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM 4. A detailed presentation on actuators The preliminary design report containing detailed presentation on actuators was archived in EDMS

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM A detailed presentation regarding the tests that ZTS/Boostec foresee for the radiation validation of all the materials of the supply Detailed presentation was not provided. The following information was mentioned by ZTS/Boostec on the meeting: 1.Regarding radiation tests we made an agreement with nuclear power plant that we can put our equipment into intermediate storage of spent fuel rods. According to preliminary calculations it can take 40 days of hard gamma radiation to get requested dose. The precise time of test will be calculated according to measurement of radiation in time of test; 2.Radiation certificate will be sent for all materials; 3.Mechanical tests to check the radiation influence will be done as follows: radiation influence, then mechanical tests no radiation influence, then mechanical tests Comparison of two set of specimens

Dmitry Gudkov BE/RF/PM A detailed presentation describing the dimensional controls ZTS/Boostec foresee for the supporting systems CERN request: A detailed presentation describing the dimensional controls you foresee for the supporting systems, in particular: 1.What dimensional controls and in how many steps? 2.What equipment you intend to use? 1. Detailed presentation was not provided. As agreed on the meeting, the dimensional control proposal will be prepared by ZTS/Boostec and sent to CERN for approval. 2. The following equipment hardware and software is at disposal of ZTS/Boostec: The data about CMM machine are as follows: Machine Nikon-LK bridge ceramic Evolution Full metrologic software : controler ME metrolg XG5 + point cloud and 3D interface Head PH10 MQ, Sensor TP200 For adjustment and measurement of assembly: Leica AT 401
