Abraham Gen 12:13-15 Abraham lies to Pharaoh about Sarah being his sister and not his wife, and he didn’t have strong enough faith that they wouldn’t kill him for Sarah. He still had a destiny to fulfill before he DIED. Then he doesn’t learn from his mistake and does it again in chapter 20:2-18 to Abimelech. Chpt. 20:11 “And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.” His faith wasn’t strong enough for Him to be confident in not dying because of Sarah. But God still delivered them from Abimelech. Examples of lies because of lack of faith

Peter Matt 26:69-75 Peter denied Christ and lied that He didn’t know him. He feared for his life that they would kill him as well, but he recognized that he was wrong and he WEPT bitterly Examples of lies because of lack of faith (continued)

David 1Samuel 21:2 – Lies to Ahimelech about being on a “secret mission” ;) for Saul so that he could get Goliath’s sword in verse 8. 21:10-15 – Pretended to be mad so that King Achish would not kill him. 27:6-9 – To cover up the fact that he was actually killing the Israelite’s enemies instead of the Israelites themselves, which was what he was telling the king. He killed everything and everyone so that they couldn’t report to King Achish about what he was doing. Examples of lies because of lack of faith (continued again)

Rahab Joshua 2 – She knew about God, but she was not bound by the laws of the Jews, which means that she wasn’t punished severely for the lie. James 2:24, 25 – “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?” Hebrews 11:31 – “By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.” Summary: Even though Yahweh hates lying there is not a recording of Him punishing her. This could have been because she did not know the law like the Jews did, as we know she was a Gentile harlot. Those lying without full knowledge

2Chronicles 18:21,22 – “… The LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets…” Jeremiah 14:14 – “Then Yahweh said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their hearts.” Jeremiah 29:23 – ”… Have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am I witness, sayeth the LORD.” Summary: From this we see that sometimes He commands people to lie for His work, but in most cases He doesn’t God requiring lying?

1Kings 22:22 – “I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.” Summary: In this case, God required lying to persuade SOMEONE to fulfill his will. God requiring lying again?
