July 2013 Updates: Winter School Holidays Part 1: “Hurry Up and Wait” show Free music class trials Alma’s trial swimming class Visit from the Northridge girls

I managed to convince Hahgoot to join us for a show at The Joan: “Hurry Up and Wait”, about two clowns that are in a hurry to see the circus parade and then need to pass the time waiting, in creative and funny ways. It was lovely and the girls both enjoyed the pantomime and visual jokes. The actors were sweet.

Hahgoot wore her vest as she was nervous about any loud noises but it was a very gentle and low key play.

We did free trial music classes at the conservatorium side of The Joan. Alma had a fantastic time and was so excited and engaged that I decided to sign her up for the next term. I am hoping it will help her English language abilities. Hahgoot, on the other hand, behaved terribly, exhibiting many of her autistic behaviours to avoid engagement and was very disruptive in class, so that was my last attempt at enrolling her in music tuition of any kind.

Alma had her first trial swimming class in Hahgoot’s group. She was very nervous about the lesson, but Shar did her best to keep her safe. Hahgoot was very excited and was an extra good model of behaviour and a translator.

Alma got 5 pieces of floaties! She looked happy and engaged...

Alma tried everything with no tears

When she came out she calmly announced: “I didn’t like it one bit!” so we are going to try again in 6 months...

We had a lovely visit from the Northridge girls Enjoyed yummy morning tea and games with Sarah, Deena and Emma – and Misty got all the pats!

We taught the girls to play Lotti Carotti and the silly Kookoo Taki cards game.

Emma and Alma tried to crack the riddles of the Camelot Jr game In our next presentation: School holidays, part 2
