Tuesday : Bell Work Find the height of the tree
Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda * 3- Objective 4- lesson *Percent * vocabulary review test Friday 12/12 *Test Monday 12/15 (ratios/ proportions/ percents/ similar figures) 3- Objective 4- lesson *Percent 5- exit ticket
Lesson objective 7. RP.3 Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems.
Percents Lesson 6-5 Solving percent problems is = % of 10 We will use the formula is = % of 10 When writing the percent don’t use the percent sign. You can drop it because it is over 100. 100 will always stay the same because percents are per 100
Solving percent problems What percent of 100 is 25? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? What is the OF #? What is the % #?
Solving percent problems What percent of 100 is 25? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? 25 What is the OF #? 100 What is the % #? X it is our unknown!!
Now that you have identified the parts- set up the proportion 25 = x 100 100 Solve your proportion
Try these What percent of 5 is 4? 5 is what percent of 9?
Solving percent problems 6 is 10% of what number? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? What is the OF #? What is the % #?
Solving percent problems 6 is 10% of what number? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? 6 What is the OF #? X it is our unknown!! What is the % #? 10
Now that you have identified the parts- set up the proportion 6 = 10 x 100 Solve your proportion
Try these 30 is 15% of what number? 36% of what number is 57?
Solving percent problems What is 45% of 39? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? What is the OF #? What is the % #?
Solving percent problems What is 45% of 39? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? X it is our unknown!! What is the OF #? 39 What is the % #? 45
Now that you have identified the parts- set up the proportion x = 45 39 100 Solve your proportion
Try these What is 155% of 50? What is 12% of 22?
Word Problems The sales tax on a $120 skateboard is $9.60. What is the sales tax rate? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? What is the OF #? What is the % #?
Word Problems The sales tax on a $120 skateboard is $9.60. What is the sales tax rate? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? $9.60 What is the OF #? $120 What is the % #? x
Word Problems The advertised cost of admission to a water park is $25 per student. A student paid $30 for admission and received $3.76 in change. What is the sales tax rate? Identify the parts of the proportion What is the IS #? What is the OF #? What is the % #?

Exit Ticket Partner discussion Why is it important for us to write our units of measure?
Wednesday : Bell Work Find the height of the racket!! This is a tricky one pay close attention!!
Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda * 3- Objective 4- lesson *Percent * vocabulary review test Friday 12/12 *Test Monday 12/15 (ratios/ proportions/ percents/ similar figures) 3- Objective 4- lesson *Percent 5- exit ticket
Lesson objective 7. RP.3 Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems.
Percents Lesson 6-6 Percent of change You can have either a percent of increase or a percent of decrease Percent of increase is the amount the number increases. Percent of decrease is the amount the number decreases.
Finding percent of change Subtract numbers in problems ALWAYS largest – smallest Divide difference by the 1st amount listed in problem Change answer to a percent
Finding percent of change 25 is decreased to 18 Subtract numbers in problems ALWAYS largest – smallest 25-18 = 7 Divide difference by the 1st amount listed in problem 7 ÷ 25 = 0.28 Change answer to a percent 0.28 is 28%
Finding percent of change 28 is increased to 96 Subtract numbers in problems ALWAYS largest – smallest 96-28 = 68 Divide difference by the 1st amount listed in problem 68 ÷ 28 = 2.428571429 *round to thousandths 2.429 Change answer to a percent 2.429 = 242.9%
Try these 72 is decreased to 45 180 is decreased to 140 55 is increased to 90 230 is increased to 250
Exit Ticket Partner discussion When might you see percents in real life?
Thursday : Bell Work Have your study guide on your desk!!!! Check to make sure all work has been shown and it is ready to check
Agenda 1- bell work 2- Agenda * 3- Objective 4- lesson *Percent * vocabulary review test Friday 12/12 *Test Monday 12/15 (ratios/ proportions/ percents/ similar figures) 3- Objective 4- lesson *Percent 5- exit ticket
