Science Fair This is a mandatory part of this course.

Why participate in the Science Fair? This is your chance to learn about something you are interested in and be able to discuss your work with professional scientists. It helps you prepare for more rigorous science classes. You show your teacher that you know how to “do science”. Also, when you are a senior, you may qualify for scholarships for college!!!

John Hancock Science Fair This part of the Science Fair can be done in pairs. IF you are picked to move on, only one of the members of the pair can go on to additional fairs.

Science Fair Project Planning: Identify your topic and establish a testable question Research: Research your topic, plan and prepare for your experiment Experiment: Conduct your experiment and collect data/results Analysis: Analyze results and establish a conclusion Write!: Write your research paper and registration papers Wrap-up: Prepare to present

What project should I choose? You can choose something from project categories: –Botany –Environmental Science

Botany The study of plants! Topics may include the structure, reproduction, function, growth, classification, disease, and behavior of plants.

Environmental Science The study of the protection and care of natural resources. Topics included in this category are solar energy and its uses, water purification and usage, pollution control, soil chemistry, and insecticides. This area includes ecology, the study of ecological systems, and ecological population studies.
