Project at Edinburgh University Library, in the form of the Tapir (Theses Alive Plugin for Institutional Repositories) and the Edinburgh Research Archive (ERA); wherein examples of implementation are presented and features discussed in the context of using DSpace for E-Theses.

Richard Jones DSpace for E-Theses th September 2004 … at Edinburgh Adapt and develop an open-source package for use across the UK Produce an OAI-compliant E-Thesis repository Develop a pilot national service with the aim of supporting E-Theses creation and management for UK universities Produce an institutional guide to adopting and managing E-Theses. Collect 500 E-Theses in the UK segment of the NDLTD

Richard Jones DSpace for E-Theses th September 2004 … for E-Theses Default Submission Procedures Flexibility with metadata and storage methods; lacks some of the fields that will be required for E-Theses, and the flexibility to change this easily. Archiving and Access Geared towards Digital Preservation; supports OAI-PMH v2.0 and has good restriction features Administration and Security Configurable with superior methodology, although some shortcomings exist: workflow is rigid; no supervisory facilities; policies are too complex to administer quickly and easily.
