SCHOOLS LABORATORY SAFETY CONTRACT

I WILL : 1. follow all instructions given by my instructor.

I WILL : 2. report any accident, injury, spill, or breakage immediately to my instructor.

I WILL : 3. never wear contact lens during laboratory experiments.

I WILL : 4. inform the instructor of any unique medical condition that may need special attention or consideration.

I WILL : 5. carry out good housekeeping practices.

I WILL : 6. know the location of first aid and firefighting equipment.

I WILL : 7. stay out of the chemistry storage and preparation rooms.

I WILL : 8. conduct myself in a responsible manner at all times in a laboratory situation.

I WILL : 9. perform no unauthorized experiments.

I WILL : 10. tie back long hair.

I WILL : 11. avoid wearing long sleeves—if I do, I will push them back.

I WILL : 12. pull on sweat pants on days when I wear shorts to school.

I WILL : 13. not wear open- toed shoes or sandals.

I WILL : 14. never wear hair spray or other flammable substances during laboratory work.

I WILL : 15. not roughhouse or otherwise endanger others in the laboratory.

I WILL : 16. not remove chemicals or equipment from the laboratory.

I WILL : 17. put on a laboratory apron and safety glasses upon first entering the laboratory area and only remove them when all laboratory work is completed.

I WILL : 18. always be sure I have the correct form or concentration of any chemicals. I will ask my instructor if I have any doubt as to the proper material to use.

I WILL : 19. never place matches or other insoluble substances in the sink but will instead place them in the proper waste container.

I WILL : 20. never bring food or drinks to the laboratory (309).

I WILL : 21. never drink from any laboratory container.

I WILL : 22. always replace lids or stoppers on chemicals tightly and immediately.

I WILL : 23. use a clean spatula after each use and never place a dirty spatula in another container. CONTAMINATION

I WILL : 24. never replace reagents in containers. I will get just what I need and discard any excess properly. CONTAMINATION

I WILL : 25. always read experiments prior to the laboratory period. If I am unfamiliar with the procedures for the experiment, I will sit out the period and make the work up later.

I WILL : 26. not rob other lockers at anytime or for any reason for needed equipment. I will ask the instructor for needed equipment or materials.
