Chapter Selecting Text Text needs to be selected to format it. Text is selected by clicking the mouse and dragging the pointer over any amount of text, from a single character to the entire document. Once text is selected, pressing a key (any key) replaces the text Deselect – click outside of the selected text, use an arrow key, press Esc key

Chapter Character formats – Style 5.6 The way a character is emphasized is its style. Found in the font dialog box and on the formatting toolbar. Can use keyboard shortcuts Most common: Bold – printed darker so that words and phrases stand out on a page. (Ctrl + B) Italic – is slanted and is mostly used for emphasis (Ctrl + I) Underline – has a line under it. (Ctrl + U) Regular or normal is the default style
