Design Design protects the outward appearance of a product, including its lines, colours, contours, shape, texture & materials. If it’s innovative in some way, then the design itself may be capable of protection.
Patents Protects new inventions & covers effectively how things work & how they are made. To obtain a patent the invention must be new, must include an innovative & inventive measure & must be capable of being made or used in some kind of industry Patents must be renewed in every fifth year for up to 20 years protection
