1. Alberta Agriculture & Rural Development The Rural Community Adaptation Grant Program Part of the Government of Alberta Community Adaptation and Transition Initiative –Overall funding made available through the National Community Development Trust Program will support projects that are community based and include at least one of the following: –Assessment and planning –Capacity building –Rural economic development –Unique community solutions
RCAP Funding: –Up to 90% of eligible non-capital projects cost and up to 50% of eligible capital costs to maximum of $500,000/project –Minimum grant size is $10,000/project Deadline: December 31, 2010 Contact: Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development –Rural Development Division – – srv366
2. The Co-operative Development Initiative (CDI) Innovative Co-operative Projects Renewed partnership agreement between the: –Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) –Conseil Canadien de la coopération et de la mutualité (CCCM) Major policy priorities: –Agriculture –Rural/northern community development –Innovative goods and services, including innovative uses of technology –Capacity building and sustainability
CDI Innovative Co-operative Projects Maximum amount $75,000/year for up to 4 years –Funding must be spent by March 31 of the year in question. (For the 2009/10 fiscal year, estimate 6 to7 months to complete the project) Deadline: July 31, 2009 Contact: John Anderson Website:

Community Development Program Building Rural and Northern Partnerships Funding will be granted for projects that address one or more rural and northern priorities: 1.Enhance the competitiveness of rural and northern regions 2.Foster the transformation of local ideas and untapped assets into sustainable innovative economic activities 3.Facilitate the development of new economic opportunities from existing natural and cultural amenities
CDP Project Categories 1.Partnerships Develop partnering initiatives among stakeholders to enhance capacity for innovative development Up to one half of total project costs, to a maximum of $75,000/regional project 2.Knowledge Building Knowledge building about barriers and gaps to rural and northern development New tools and information to address barriers and gaps Up to one half of project costs, to a maximum of $100,000/project/fiscal year
CDP Project Categories 3.Workshops Engage and mobilize community and regional stakeholders to work together on a development initiative Up to one half of total project costs, to a maximum of $15,000/project
