How did you do? Let’s continue onto what an adjective is and how to identify one! Maybe we need a little more of a review….. Next

An Adjective is… An action word? A number? Descriptive? A person? List of most commonly used Adjectives Complete Definition of an Adjective

Adjectives! An Adjective can be defined as a name for a word that modifies (describes) a noun. Nouns are words that name a place, a person, a thing, or an idea. An adjective is a word that gives more information about the noun that goes with it (accompanies). Three rules to remember about adjectives are as follows: 1. Adjectives are words used to describe nouns. 2. Adjectives give more information about a noun. 3. Use adjectives to make your writing more interesting. List of most commonly used Adjectives

No! An adjective can not be an action. Adjectives describe a noun or an action. Action words are known as “verbs” Action Verbs are words that have movement of some sort. Back to Definition Page

Numbers, yes! Adjectives can be numbers as long as the numbers are describing a noun or an object: The eight- year old girl was a great student My favorite food at the party was the delicious three- layered cake! The giant ten- foot python was scary. Back to Definition Page

Descriptions; Of course! Adjectives are there to make your writing more entertaining and exciting. Adjectives describe the noun or object in the sentence. Interesting words are best: The graceful dancer wowed the audience. The party was exciting and crazy! My favorite Disney Princess is the beautiful Cinderella. Back to Definition Page

People are nouns! Although nouns can be adjectives, people cannot be adjectives. Don’t forget, adjectives are describing words and can be used to describe people. Does it sound right when we use people as adjectives? The song was so amazing we can easily say it was Kelly Ford. Mr. Field was an Anna teacher. Most of the time words should make sense in a sentence if put in properly. If they do not, they more than likely they do not fit the definition. Back to Definition Page
