God Did Great Things Parting the waters of the Jordan river. Joshua 3 The fall of Jericho. Joshua 6 The sun and the moon stood still. Joshua 10 God’s confidence in Joshua. Deuteronomy 3:28; Deuteronomy 31:14, 23; Deuteronomy 34; Joshua 1:1-9

Joshua Was A Man Of Humility Before he was a leader, he was willing to serve. Moses’ minister. Joshua 1:1; cf. Exodus 24:13; 33:11 After he became a leader, he was willing to serve. Though magnified by God (Joshua 3:7; 4:14), he was still willing to consider himself a servant. Authority did not go to his head. cf. 2 Chronicles 26:16; cf. Daniel 5:20 Humility in service. Proverbs 27:2

Joshua Was A Man Of Faith And Trust In God Demonstrated when he was sent to spy out the land. Numbers 13:25-28; 14:6-9 Demonstrated in the fall of Jericho. Joshua 6:1-5, 20; cf. Hebrews 11:30 Demonstrated in his intolerance of sin. Joshua 7

Joshua Was A Man Of God’s Word His success was directly related to his attention to God’s word. To ensure success, he had to fulfill the law as given by Moses. Joshua 1:7 He was to meditate upon the Law day and night. Joshua 1:8 Note: Psalms 119:15, 23, 27, 48, 78

Joshua Was A Man Of God’s Word Time and again, Joshua was true to God’s word. In reminding the tribes of Ruben and Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh to remember the words of Moses. Joshua 1:12-15; cf. Deuteronomy 3:18ff Joshua carried out all that Jehovah had commanded Moses. Joshua 11:15, 23; Deuteronomy 31:7 At the end of his life he encouraged the faithfulness of the people. Joshua Was A Man Of Prayer Prayed for the people in their failures. Joshua 7:6-9 Prayed in the midst of war. Joshua 10:12-14

Joshua Was A Man Who Put God First Before others. “As for me and my house…” Joshua 24:14-15 People affirmed their allegiance to God. Joshua 24:16 cf. Judges 2:10

Conclusion: Lessons for us: God blesses those who are faithful. Obedient faith is saving faith. God’s leaders trust in the Lord. The victory of faith.
