Pastel Painting Demonstration By Allana Leclair

Stage 1- Sketching Sketch out the basic outlines in order to ensure the three portraits are in proportion.

Portrait 1- Stage 2 Original photograph to work from.

Portrait 1- Stage 2 Step 1- block in the background colors to work from in order to get a general feel of shadows and highlights.

Portrait 1- Stage 2 Step 2- Blend the base colors, adding highlights and shadows as necessary.

Portrait 1- Stage 2 Step 3- Put the final details on; eyes, hair, mouth, clothing, leaving the lightest highlights for the final step.

Portrait 2- Stage 3 Original photograph to work from.

Portrait 2- Stage 3 Step 1- block in the background colors to work from in order to get a general feel of shadows and highlights.

Portrait 2- Stage 3 Step 2- Blend the base colors, adding highlights and shadows as necessary.

Portrait 2- Stage 3 Step 3- Put the final details on; eyes, hair, mouth, clothing, leaving the lightest highlights for the final step.

Progress Stand back and look to see that values are accurate with the two portraits side-by- side. Make any adjustments, if necessary.

The Final Product
