Energy, Matter, Organization Study Tasks

Task #1 Use your notes (if needed) on Cell Respiration Draw a simple cell, showing some mitochondria and the nucleus. Label where these stages occur: Glycolysis, Kreb’s Cycle, Electron Transport System Don’t erase!

Task #2 On your cell respiration diagram, label the input molecules of cell respiration and the output molecules (“what comes out”)

Task #3 Draw a simple plant cell, showing a chloroplast and the nucleus. Show where chlorophyll is stored and label where these stages occur: - conversion of light E  chemical E - carbon fixation

Task #4 Create a pH vs. time graph Draw a line on your graph showing what happens to water surrounding an actively photosynthesizing plant –Consider the initial pH of water –Consider the “ending” pH of water –Write a descriptive title Using a dashed line (----), draw a graph showing the pH of water as it surrounds a more quickly photosynthesizing plant.

Task #5 Draw an enzyme and substrate in the following scenarios: –Before they “meet” and react –During their “interaction” –After they meet and react On each diagram, –Label enzyme, substrate, active site, a type of molecule that can represent the enzyme and a type of molecule that can represent the substrate.

Photosynthesis / Respiration Who (does it) What (is it) When (does it happen) Where (does it happen) Why (does it happen)
