Chapter 11: Residential Opportunities and Respite Care

Overview What are the three major factors that influence the types of service available to persons with disabilities? What effects does the birth of a child with a disability have on a family?

Centers for Independent Living What are Center for Independent Living (CILs)? What independent living services do CILs offer?

Residential Services What services do adult foster care homes offer? What is a boarding home? Explain a family subsidiary program. Define freestanding weekend respite.
