Challenges Adult Service: Bring waiting times down from an average of 26 weeks in July 2008 to <12 weeks by March 2009 for 1 st appointments Provide a sustainable solution that meets the various Quality Standards Paediatric Service: Children are already being see in <9 weeks Move to a target of <6 weeks Providing a sustainable solution that meets the Quality Standards for Paediatric Services ENT and Audiology impact on ENT achieving 18 week RTT NHS Lanarkshire

NHS Lanarkshire Approach Capacity Plans for Adult and Paediatric Services completed July 2008 Business Case submitted and approved September 2008 Audiology 18 RTT Board established January 2009 Process Mapping to eliminate blockages

Current Work Streams Staffing: Skill Mix, Training, WTE Skill mix re-examined including roles and responsibilities Supporting 6 Audiology Assistants staff to complete Foundation degree over next 4 years Increased numbers of staff by at least 4.0 WT Accommodation: Attempt to source additional accommodation Examine work pattern, condensed working week Making extended use of valuable specialist rooms IM&T Pas Link to aid faster more accurate data entry Citrix Server to allow contemporaneous update of data for current synchronised site

A&C Increased A&C support to Audiology Clinics and Reception on each site Central Contact Point and Advice Line for Patients A&C staff to perform many clerical tasks currently done by audiologists Other Areas of Work currently being explored Triage - to identify patients suitable for Single visit “Test to Fit” Pre Test for ENT Clinics RIC REM to aid quicker more effective hearing aids fitting Current Situation Additional Clinics being held and current average waiting time for 1st appointment is now 17 weeks with a completed journey time of 21 weeks.
