Primary Virtualization Goals. High Availability Web servers, some batch system head nodes, etc. Live migration Negative experiences with Red Hat Cluster Suite

Primary Virtualization Goals. Server Consolidation Virtualize one off systems Ease managment Better use of computing resources

Current Implementation CDF Online Production and development webservers D0 Offline CAB head nodes SLF 3.09 login pool nodes SAM Station

Current D0 Virt Config

Late FY09 Setup VI Cluster for CDF Offline Webserver and misc one off nodes. Grow D0 Offline Cluster Add two additional PMs Fibre channel SAN SataBeast backend storage

FY10 Continue growth of CDF and D0 cluster hardware. Coordinate efforts with other departments. Continue to evaluate virtualization software.

Issues… Virtual Iron discontinued after sale to Oracle Evaluating Citrix Xenserver and Oracle VM Requesting free VI licenses from Oracle Learning Curve Virtualization is complex. Staff need training on tools.
