EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free."
13 TH AMENDMENT(FREEDOM) THIS AMENDMENT FREED ALL SLAVES WITHIN THE UNITED STATES.
14 TH AMENDMENT (CITIZENSHIP) ALL PEOPLE BORN OR NATURALIZED IN THE UNITED STATES WERE NOW CITIZENS. THIS GAVE SLAVES THE FULL RIGHTS AND PRIVLEDGES OF CITIZENSHIP.
15 TH AMENDMENT (MALE VOTE) THIS AMENDMENT GAVE ONLY AFRICAN- AMERICAN MALES THE RIGHT TO VOTE.

FREEDMEN’S BUREAU The Freedmen's Bureau Bill, which created the Freedmen's Bureau, was initiated by President Abraham Lincoln and was intended to last for one year after the end of the Civil War. 3/5 TH COMPROMISE SLAVE STATES WERE ABLE TO COUNT 3/5THS OF THEIR SLAVES AS THEIR POPULATION. THIS ALLOWED SLAVE STATES TO GET MORE REPRESENTATION IN CONGRESS.
