Recent Earthquake  On March 11 th one of the biggest earthquakes ever recorded happened in Japan.  A 8.9 magnitude earthquake happened of the Northeast coast of Japan.

Massive Earthquake  The giant earthquake was followed by a tsunami which destroyed whole cities and killed hundreds of people.  After the massive earthquake over 50 smaller ones occurred.

Massive Earthquake Cont.  As of now there are over 10,000 people dead from the earthquake and tsunami.  Still there are thousands of people missing.

Tsunami  The tsunami that followed the earthquake had huge waves of up to 33 feet high.  The waves took out houses, cars, buildings, and many more.

Nuclear Power Plant  In the after shock of the earthquake the nuclear power plant in Fukushima exploded causing a nuclear meltdown.  Many people died from the radiation which is now increasing the risk of cancer.

Epicenter  The epicenter or middle of the earthquake was near the east coast of Honshu, Japan.  It was about 231 miles northeast of Tokyo.
