1 HISTORY OF BADMINTON

2 Badminton came from a game called “Poona” in India during the 18th century

3 British Army officers settled there took a competitive version back to England in the 1860s.

4 The new sport was launched in 1873 at Badminton House, Gloucestershire, For this reason this game was called officially Badminton.

5 In 1893, the Badminton association of England published the first collection of laws. The first badminton competition was played in 1899.

6 The International Badminton Federation (IBF) (now known as Badminton World Federation) was stablished in 1934 and ever since It has been developing this sport

7 Some Asian countries and Denmark have been dominating the International Badminton, with China the most dominating in recent years.
