Jesus is both King here and now but is also to return in His glory when His rule will be evident. Our duty, as His servants, is to work for the extension of His kingdom until He returns

Our understanding of the character of God determines our response to Him Deut 7v9-12 – Gods love is for those that love Him Psalms – Gods love is generous and unfailing Hosea – God is merciful and forgiving Joel 2v3 – ‘For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love’ Jonah 4v2 – Criticism of Gods mercy Luke 15v11-32 – Prodigal son 1John 4v8 – ‘God is love’

The Father and the Son are One – John 10v29-31 The Son does the work of the Father – John 5v16-27 The Son commissions us! – Matt 28v16-20

Because “God is love” and because He loves us, it is imperative that we use our gifts to further His purposes. This is appropriate as a response to the One who died for us and has been proclaimed as King.
