The italian education system

The italian education system is based on the division between public and private school. The school grades are : -KINDERGARTEN SCHOOL ( 3- 5 YEARS ) - PRIMARY SCHOOL (6 -10 YEARS ) - MIDDLE SCHOOL ( YEARS )(FIRST THREE YEARS OF A - SECONDARY SCHOOL - HIGH SCHOOL (14-18 YEARS )

Kindergarten school is open to all Italian and resident children, that are from the age of three up to five years old. This first part of the education system aims at educating and developing fine physical and psyomotor skills,at simulating quick and sharp minds,at building solid moral constructions and at promoting children social interactions,indipendence and creativity,assuring an effective and equal educational opportunity. KINDERGARTEN SCHOOL

PRIMARY SCHOOL Primary school promotes individual diversity and personality development, making learning easier, supporting the development and basic abilites, of logical and critical thinking, using expressive teaching methods, including learning english learning. It also sets the foundation of the use of the scientific method by studing the natural world, natural laws and phenomenon. Primary School gives the students the ability to evaluate their inter-personal abilities and is active in educating young citizens to the main foundations of Italian civil society. Attendance in Primary school is compulsory for Italian and resident children that turn 6 by the 31st August.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Attendance in Middle school is compulsory for all Italian and resident children that have finished Primary s chool. Middle school covers all the disciplines with the aim to increase capacity of individual study and growth to organize social interaction, including reading and learning computer skills, to increase knowledge and skills keeping in mind social and cultural traditions and cultural and scientific evolution as they are related to modern times. This school progressively develops the ability and the competency of the students skills ; establishes expanded instruction and learning ; includes the introduction of a second European language and helps to drive them for the next step of their school education. This part of the student’s education ends with an official school leaving exam.

HIGH SCHOOL This final part of the Italian educational system begins at age 14, after passing the previous exam. This part the students’ scholastic career is comprised of courses of different subjects and lenghts, and it is divided as follows : - High school igh school for art including performing arts - Technical school - Vocational school -T-The students passing the state exam and they will earn a diploma.

AUTONOMY Since the 2000 school year, schools have had indipendent administration. They operate under the general eduction guidelines of Italian government. School systems are lead be by school superintendent located in a separate administative office that also handles public affairs for the school system. Every educational institution has its own Educational Curriculum plan which represents the educational action plan of the school.
