Introduction to Neighbourhoods What has been changed ? Implemented a system of area based working and neighbourhood management within the previous Streetscene group of services Streetscene Services re-named to Neighbourhood Services in April 2010

Neighbourhood Areas Defined 3 new areas linked to the Area Committees: Western Parishes/Penwortham Central/Eastern Leyland East/West

The new work areas

Neighbourhood Managers and Teams - Neighbourhood Manager in place for each of the 3 neighbourhood areas covering 2 area committees - Operational Work Teams in place covering all services within each area ie. Street Cleaning, Grounds Maintenance etc. - New roles of Neighbourhood Officers who will be able to deal with a wider range of issues in one visit ie. Waste, Enforcement, Parks, Clean Environment etc.

What services are involved? - Street cleaning - Street furniture – bus shelters, seats etc. - Environmental enforcement and education - Parks and open spaces - Maintenance of car parks - Playgrounds - Grounds Maintenance

What services are involved? - Park ranger activities - Canine welfare and dog warden activities - Tree maintenance - Waste and recycling collections - Community safety and anti-social behaviour

What are the benefits? - Better linkages and support to Area Committees/Members - Closer working relationships between neighbourhood teams, community groups, partner organisations and local people - Improved front line services and quicker responses to customers

What are the benefits? - A more efficient and effective way of working. - Neighbourhood team working will improve local knowledge for Council employees - Joined up approach to enforcement
