Community Service Committee Club Assembly – July 10th, 2012

Mandate of CSC Our Mission: – Identify and execute community projects and support youth in our community to create a positive impact we all can be proud of!! Membership: – If you would like to participate next year, please let Wynn know.

Initiatives Approved/Completed since our last Assembly Youth: – Successful Interact year: ~40 members $2000 raised 2 international projects – Rwanda Rabbits; Malawi School memory café monthly excellent leadership and volunteer participation – 2 RYLA (reported out to club) ($1600) – 1 Adventures in Citizenship (will report out to club June 5 th ) ($1100)

Initiatives Completed since our last Assembly Literacy – Jim has done exceptional work leading the Literacy Roundtable, including book drive and 1000X5 – SMART George Jay (Partnership with Oak Bay Rotary Foundation & Thrifty SMILE cards ($4500)

Initiatives Approved – Bowker Creek Celebration (Pennant making workshop for youth) ($500) – Spring Clean-up for Rotary Peter Pan Water Carnarvon Park (Sweat Equity) – Signage for new water feature for Water Park (whale) (~$2000) – New teen centre in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre as part of the new Oak Bay High School – setting funds aside/ plans progressing. (Budget & planning underway) – Bike Racks for Uplands Park approved for two entrances – Jim F, John S, Corey B (~$2000)

CSC New Projects Under Review Native Plants Park (Beach Drive & Margate) – Offer extended, waiting for feedback (~$3000) Additional bike racks for Upland Park Entrances (~ $1000) Possible promoting and sending a candidate to Adventures in Music in Courtney for next year (~$1500)
