THE WISDOM TREE
For my 10 th birthday, I was given a seed. A tiny seed that was in the shape of a teardrop
With the seed came a note, it said: this seed is your life, it grows and changes just like you.
I planted the tree into the backyard the very next day. I WAS hoping it would grow soon, so I could put a tire swing on it
The tree did not grow very fast at all. It took almost a month for me to see the sprout, it had 2 leaves. They were the size of my pinky nail.
Eventually the seed grew into something more. By my 15 th birthday it was the size of a little baby tree. It had grown, and so had I
Eventually I had to move out of the house, so I left the tree to be taken into my mother’s care
I came back the next summer. It had grown into a nice looking tree. It was still going to grow more, but it looked pretty good and promising right now
I left and did not return for a while, I had gone to college, gotten a job, gotten married, and came home for my parents to meet my new baby girl.
I did not visit my parents until my father’s death almost 25 years later…
I realized that the tree that was given to me was like an example to my life, it grew like it did As I gained the knowledge of life, the tree grew and progressed like me.
“Never mistake knowledge with wisdom, one helps you make a living, the other helps you make a life.” -Sandra Carey
Wisdom was compared to a tree...
