ETMS Data Analysis tool Katerina Jupova, Ondrej Nalevka, Tomas Soukup GISAT

Status of Data Analysis Tool (DAT):

Status of Data Analysis Tool (DAT) Territorial entry-points: Specific themes and sets of indicators for particular region types/subtypes, based on the ETMS matrix – technical solution ready

Status of Data Analysis Tool (DAT) User-friendly environment for interactive analysis provides: ‒ access to the indicators or indicator based analysis via multiple “entry-points”: territorial types/sub-types themes (topics) ‒ interconnected interactive components (maps, charts, tables, unit tree) ‒ tools for multiple units selections (through all map, charts or hierarchical tree of units) ‒ tools for units benchmarking and comparison ‒ interactive switching between different levels and types of analytical units (e.g. different NUTS levels, countries, ESPON space, neighbor regions, different types of territories – e.g. mountain regions etc.) ‒ interactive switching between different years or periods ‒ flexibility in sense of adding new region types, topics, time horizons etc.

New Features (TPG demands) ‒ outermost regions visualization (extents can be modified …)

New Features (TPG demands) ‒ Legend added to maps

New Features (TPG demands) ‒ Dot chart map mode (for visualization of absolute quantitative values) -for each indicator, dot or standard cartogram mode can be selected, based on indicator type (absolute/relative) - to be defined by the TPG …

New Features (TPG demands) ‒ Dot chart map mode - can be combined with standard cartogram …

New Features (TPG demands) ‒ Alfresco link added to the DAT footer (text/picture – can be modified)

Other New Features Developed Other highlights: ‒ Averages in column charts ‒ Multiple years mode (maps) ‒ Multiple panels mode, panels detachment ‒ Exporting tools (as graphics, as tables)

New Features Developed Column charts: ‒ Averages displayed in charts ‒ Multiple indicators mode

New Features Developed Map and charts mode displaying two years:

New Features Developed Controls/exporting tools: ‒ multiple panels mode ‒ panels detachment ‒ exporting tools (as graphics, as tables)

Status of Data Analysis Tool (DAT) Tests with existing datasets: – NUTS – examples, case studies – different indicators in charts, benchmarking, multiple years mode, multiple selections, …

Data Analysis Tool (DAT) Plans for the next weeks: incorporation of final ETMS data (regions + indicators) filtering and benchmarking tools enhancement implementation of ESPON cartography rules /where possible/: »Color scales »Map extents »Etc. improvement of exporting tools –inputs for reports have to be specified by TPG at first!

Data Analysis Tool (DAT) Input data in final format needed! final version of regions (incl. typologies/hierarchies) final version of indicators (incl. ref. years, aggregation types, etc…) specification of inputs for reports (Facts and figures /State of territory) Without having (pre)final version of input data »DAT database cannot be filled in »ETMS results cannot be visualized (interactively/reports…) »possibilities for further DAT development are limited (incl. exporting functions)

Data inputs specifications For each analytical unit: ‒ Unit ID – unique (number format) ‒ Unit name (will be displayed in the DAT and exported graphics…) ‒ Parent unit ID ‒ Parent unit name Vector data: ‒ 1 polygon feature for each unit with Unit ID (unique) Reference year have to be specified for each column Aggregations: Source fields and type of aggregation has to be exactly specified for each level of units hierarchy. Raster or linear data will be presented only in „static“ way in the map, will not be included in interactive analysis (charts, tables etc.).

Specifications needed: Regions Agreed by TPG: ‒ Final definition of regions typology ‒ Specification of units´hieararchy for each region (sub)type ‒ Specification of source fields for regions aggregation (each level) ‒ Specification of source fields for filtering for each region (sub)type

Specifications needed: Indicators Agreed by TPG: ‒ Final list of indicators for each region (sub)type ‒ Specification of source data for each indicator (filename, fieldname) ‒ Specification of aggregation types for higher hierarchy levels ‒ Specification of units for each indicator (persons/%/meters etc.)

Outputs of the online DAT Export of DAT elements as graphics already prepared: ‒ Maps (incl. legend) ‒ Charts (incl. legend) ‒ Tables (also as csv) - only some technical details have to be fixed (number of units, units´ names on axis etc.) Graphic elements can be exported in the same form as they are displayed in in the DAT. Outputs have to be specified in detail by the TPG: ‒ List of indicators which should be presented as maps (incl. years specification) ‒ Type of map visualization for each indicator (dot/cartogram) ‒ Extent of each map ‒ List of indicators which should be presented as charts/tables ‒ Units list which should be displayed in each chart (all countries, sorted NUTS…) ‒ Years which should be displayed in each chart ‒ Size required for each element of exported graphics

Outputs of the online DAT FF, State of Territory report … City profile? Periodicity? To be discussed …
