30% increase in the capacity of new and existing overhead lines Low cost per additional MW of capacity Potential to facilitate faster network connections Could reduce the visual impact of new lines Will require additional resource and financial commitments over their lifespan to maintain DTR Schemes perceived to add risk to network security Will require changes to connection offers and the acceptance of generators DTR Benefit: DTR vs. Business as Usual Connection

Operational scheme based on SPENs IET Innovation Award winning project Utilises weather stations and a geographic model of the network to interpolate the weather conditions and ratings at any span DTR calculated validated against conductor temperature measurements Original Trial Results: 30% sustainable uplift upon existing seasonal ratings Strong correlation with wind farm output 20% additional energy yield for wind farms controlled to DTR DTR Approach: Thermal State Estimation with Integrated Sensors
