WHY DO YOU HAVE TO GO ON RETREAT? It is very important to the administration that the seniors get to go on this retreat. Here are some of their reasons why:

“They GET to go on a senior retreat. The senior retreat is a reflection of their four years and a way of building unity with their classmates. They started their high school career with a freshman retreat and now they finish with their senior retreat.” Br. Chris - President

It gives a necessary summary and “wrap-up” to the student’s four years of high school at CBHS. It gives a necessary summary and “wrap-up” to the student’s four years of high school at CBHS. The “Brothers’ Boys” aspect of our graduates is cemented in this day together away from study and activities to reflect on their personal relationships, their family relationships and their relationship with God. The “Brothers’ Boys” aspect of our graduates is cemented in this day together away from study and activities to reflect on their personal relationships, their family relationships and their relationship with God. Sometimes there have been misunderstandings between students over the four years and the retreat day is an easy way to clear up and open up some of these misunderstandings so that they can be healed. It is still possible after four years together that some seniors are not known by their classmates and this is a chance where they can meet and come to know one another a bit better. It is still possible after four years together that some seniors are not known by their classmates and this is a chance where they can meet and come to know one another a bit better. The retreat is a final reminder…people and God are the reason for life, not success, not sports, not music, not money, not popularity, not revenge, not telephones, not computers, not recreation, not cars, not thrills… The retreat is a final reminder…people and God are the reason for life, not success, not sports, not music, not money, not popularity, not revenge, not telephones, not computers, not recreation, not cars, not thrills… Br. Joel – Associate Principal

The purpose or spirit of senior retreat is to help the boys bring closure to one aspect of their lives and to help them look forward to the next. Therefore, they need a day to evaluate and reflect on their path in life and the people that have been significant to them thus far. To me it’s not a question of “having to go” but wanting to go. Life is getting ready to change dramatically and retreat will help prepare for those changes that are about to start happening. Mr. Fay – Principal

It gives you a chance to slow down and do some reflection. It gives you an opportunity to get to know your classmates a lot better. The feedback from former students is always very positive. Mr. Pratt – Dean of Students

Senior retreats are a brief chance to sit back and relax, breathe a little, and think about a lot of different things… friends, family, the past, the future. When they came in as freshmen they had a retreat day where they got to know the guys they would be with for the next four years. They were little kids beginning a big adventure. Now they’re about to end that adventure and begin a new one. But they’re not little kids anymore. Now they’re about to end that adventure and begin a new one. But they’re not little kids anymore. Something has happened in the last four years that has transformed them from kids into young men about to go out… to a large degree…on their own for the first time. Before they go, senior retreat gives them the chance to reminisce, to ponder, to be thankful, to pray… If they let themselves go… if they give themselves over to the experience and allow themselves to be real and honest… senior retreat can really be a day not only to remember, but a day that can actually help as they prepare to move on to college and the rest of their lives. Mr. Ward – Religion and Ethics Dept. Chairman
