Career Connections Carroll County Public Schools South Carroll Senior High School

What is the program?  Career Connections is a program which allows students who have been following a series of courses designed to get them into a specific career area the opportunity to experience the actual work site related to that career.

How do I qualify for this program?  1) Follow a carefully built series of classes aimed at a specific career area, starting in the 9 th grade!  2) Complete all graduation requirements, including HSA’s and Student Service Hours  3) Maintain 94% or better attendance

Grade 9  When meeting with your counselor to plan your courses, discuss the career(s) you find most interesting and ask what courses would be most valuable for that career.  Visit the Career Center and use the BRIDGES Career Exploration tool for more information  Consider a JOB SHADOW  Be a good student!

Grades 10 thru 11  Continue to explore the career(s) that interests you. Consider a Job Shadow to spend some time on a work site to see if the daily work is what you thought it would be.  Update your counselor if your plans change and get their input on what courses to take next.  Maintain good grades and attendance!

At the end of your Junior Year  Visit the Career Coordinator to discuss your status for an internship.  Use the BRIDGES Career Exploration tool again to refine your career search

Review the Requirements  1) Senior Status  2) 2.5 or better GPA

 3) 94% or better attendance (no more than 2 days absent per quarter) (no more than 2 days absent per quarter)  4) Minimum of 3 credits in the completer sequence you are choosing to pursue (use the Pathways booklets) (use the Pathways booklets)
