Proverbs 18:21 The power of life and death is in your tongue. PART 3 - MOUTH MANAGEMENT

James 3:1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 1. You will be accountable to God for the words you say according to the level of your influence. 2. Not only are we are accountable for what we say, but we are also accountable for what we don’t say.

Matthew 12: But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Luke 6:45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

James 3:2-6 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. set on fire by a small spark. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

James 3:2-6 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Why is it important to watch what I say? Because the words you say, can change the direction of your life!

4 SIGNS OF A UNTAMED TONGUE 1. The tongue is used for gossip Proverbs 16:28 A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends.

4 SIGNS OF A UNTAMED TONGUE 1. The tongue is used for gossip Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. 2. The tongue is used for quarreling

James 3:7-8 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR TONGUE IN CHECK A. Memorize James 1:19 B. Ask a friend to hold you accountable. C. Yield your tongue to God. D. Apply God’s Word to our tongue. If you want to change the direction of your life, change the declaration of your lips. Your world is framed by your words.

James 3: With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Proverbs 21:23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul from troubles. Psalm 19:14 Dear God, “let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer”
