Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Great in God’s mind or in man’s eyes? –(Mk.10:43-45)(Jo.12:42-43)(Jo.5:44) “Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant” Desire For Worldly Success

Mark 10:43-45 (43) "Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. (44) "And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. (45) "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

John 12:42-43 (42) Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; (43) for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 5:44 How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?

Great in God’s mind or in man’s eyes? –(Mk.10:43-45)(Jo.12:42-43)(Jo.5:44) Why is this a “WEIGHT”? –Because you may have to lose “worldly success” in order to remain faithful to God (Mt.10:22-25) (1Co.4:11-13,16) “Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant” Desire For Worldly Success

Matthew 10:22-25 (22) "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved… (24) "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

Matthew 10:22-25 (25) "It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

1 Corinthians 4:11-13,16 (11) To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. (12) And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

1 Corinthians 4:11-13,16 (13) being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now. (16) Therefore I urge you, imitate me.

Women pressured to follow the world’s standards for success –God’s priority for the woman - “home keeper” or “home manager” (Tit.2:5) (1Ti.5:14) Desire For Worldly Success

Titus 2:4-5 (4) that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, (5) to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

1 Timothy 5:14 Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."

1 Corinthians 11:9 (8) For man is not from woman, but woman from man. (9) Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.

1 Peter 3:1-6 (1) Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, (2) when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.

1 Peter 3:1-6 (3) Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-- (4) rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

1 Peter 3:1-6 (5) For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, (6) as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
