INDECISIVENESS By:

What to do? September 23, 2009Marsh 2  When given a problem to fix, many students are left to figure out what they want to do  People need outside help in order to make decisions, whether the decisions are big or small  “Some 45 percent of Internet users, or about 60 million Americans, said they sought online help to make big decisions or negotiate their way through major episodes in their lives in the previous two years” 1

Projects September 23, 2009Marsh 3  Many times when students are given the opportunity to solve problems that interest them, they are at a loss  An unnecessary amount of time is spent merely trying to find a good idea

Search Engines September 23, 2009Marsh 4  Google may be the most powerful entity known to man  It does not always give exactly what you want

Best Solution? September 23, 2009Marsh 5  Using a Google like interface and search engine, a user could enter things they are interested in  A search would be conducted on recent news, reports, and research projects would be scanned to determine first relevance to the users input  Furthermore, words that commonly occur in web pages that signify societal issues are scanned for and those web pages are given higher relevance

Add into September 23, 2009Marsh 6  Searches and the websites that are normally picked will go into a database so that they may be placed first in the search list  People will also have the opportunity to select whether certain websites were actually helpful so that future searchers don’t have to see the same thing

Choices Lessened September 23, 2009Marsh 7  While the individual would still have to make the final choice, choices most interesting to them would appear at the forefront

Free Service! September 23, 2009Marsh 8  This service would be provided to the public as free as any other Google like service  It could even be an additional service through Google, or make money through advertisements

Problematic September 23, 2009Marsh 9  While it would differ from search engines like Google, it would provide a more selective type of search, though many people might not see enough of a difference  Getting money through advertisements alone could be difficult

In the end September 23, 2009Marsh 10  More relevant information could be shed light into  Time wasted could be dramatically reduced  Time = Money
