Know the Learners The learners’ educational background The learners’ cultural & language background The learners’ incoming knowledge and skill level relative to the intended instruction Their individual characteristics –Learning style –Cognitive style –Types of intelligences As a group, how are they the same and how are they different? How would those factors affect the design of the intended instruction?
