The First Invention Thomas Edison’s first great invention that developed in Menlo Park was the tin foil Phonograph. He got the idea while working to improve the efficiency of a telegraph transmitter. This caused him to wonder if he could record a telephone massage. So he began to experiment until he made it play back the massage he recorded “Mary Had A Little Lamb”.
Thomas Edison had a great challenge and it was the development of a practical incandescent, electric light. Many people think that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb but actually he didn't’t he just improved a 50 year old idea and it was a success. Thomas Edison’s Great Challenge
Thomas Edison’s Failures Thomas Edison held 1,093 patents for different inventions. Many of the inventions like the light bulb and the phonograph were brilliant creations that have a great influence on our every day life. However not everything Thomas created was a success he also had a few failures.
