3 Data Governance and CTE in WA Value of CTE Data Steward engaged in Data Governance Part of the discussion on the direction we are going with our data systems including our SLDS grant work Any time something new comes along in the data world it is discussed at our Data Management Committee Build connections with other agencies doing data governance work, CTC and workforce.

How to accomplish this Build relationships with IT, Student Information and EDFact Coordinator. Build expectation of leadership in the agency that inclusive participation Examples Microsoft IT Academy – two data issues. 6 CTE Data Governance: MD Value of CTE Data Steward engaged in Data Governance Establishment of the LDS Technical Workgroup for the first SLDS grant Representatives from each division of PreK -12 (CTE and Special Education) Required federal reporting for post-high school (so looking at P-20W) Alignment of all data elements & systems requires comprehensive approach EDEN/EdFacts, CTE, other federal and state programs (MFR, StudentStat) Assessment of system capacity - internal and external Maryland Governor established P-20 Leadership Council and MLDS Governing Board Focus on transition points includes Career Development, CTE and workforce Representative from CTE serves on Interagency Technical Workgroup (ITWG)

7 CTE Data Governance: MD How to accomplish this Invite yourself to meetings...it’s usually not against the rules Clear documentation of federal and state reporting requirements - show the alignment of requirements and share current capacity/limitations Expand scope of work and relationships with postsecondary and workforce partners - show the value of CTE in each sector Examples Making Friends through Mandatory Meetings - early access to current data for new Perkins measures and validation process (from SAID to course-coding and teacher effectiveness) CTE Contributions to the System - CTE Data collection and exchange with postsecondary and workforce (Memorandum of Understanding and data center) Commitment to a Fully Integrated System -- leave nothing and no one out
