PA Work Day continued 1:00-2:00 pm – PA’s make clinical rounds with one PA reporting to Restricted Housing Unit and Administrative Custody Unit – Second PA reports to Mental Health Unit 2:00 – 3:45 pm – PA line continues usually 2-3 patients and depending on type of clinic or follow-up recommended or procedure to be performed

Additional PA Duties Lab reviews Chart reviews with blood pressure checks/blood sugar checks/new-intake medical reviews Suturing – on-call after hours for suturing Medical Emergencies Weekend rounds with physician on-call

 Pennsylvania’s Primary Health Care Practitioners Loan Repayment Program Prison Health Services, Inc works collaboratively with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to establish site designations. As of January 2008, the following correctional institutions in Pennsylvania have been designated as eligible for loan repayment:

Designated SCI Sites SCI Albion, Camp Hill, Coal Township, Cresson, Fayette, Forest, Frackville, Greene, Greensburg, Houtzdale, Huntingdon, Mahanoy, Muncy, Pine Grove, Pittsburgh (in progress), Rockview, Smithfield, Somerset Two year minimum service commitment based on participant’s qualifying educational loans Opportunities beyond two years may be available

 Pennsylvania’s Primary Health Care Practitioners Loan Repayment Program State repayment program through National Health Service Corps (NHSC) grants matching funds directly to states to operate their own loan repayment programs. This initiative is part of the overall strategy of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to improve and expand access to healthcare for Americans nationwide. Eligibility requirements and benefits vary from state to state.
