The Thrills and Chills of Roller Coasters Presented by: Nick Kelly Project: 15 1/19/12

Everyone loves the thrill of wind blowing in their face while barreling down tracks of a rollercoaster. Rollercoasters are what everyone goes to amusement parks for. There are coasters for kids, children, teens tweens, parents and grandparents!

The History of the Rollercoaster LaMarcus Adna Thompson patented the first coasters on January 20, The first coaster was in France. A roller coaster consists of a track that rises in designed patterns, sometimes with one or more inversions (such as vertical loops) that turn the rider briefly upside down.

Did you know… Below are ten fun facts about rollercoasters: 1.The two tallest roller coasters are Steel Force and the Desperado. They are 225 feet tall. 2. There are only seven roller coasters currently operating that reach 200 ft. tall. 3.There once was a man who did not talk for six years because of shell shock, but after a ride on the Coney Island Cyclone, he told his friend, "I feel sick.“ 4.The park with the best and most roller coasters is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. 5.The longest roller coaster in the world can be found at Japan's Nagashima Spa Land. The steel dragon 2000 has a track that covers 8133 feet. 6.The Colossus roller coaster in Thorpe Park, England, has an incredible 10 inversions. 7.In 2010, 102 roller coaster enthusiasts set a new world record at Adventure Island in Essex, for the most amount of people riding a roller coaster nude. 8.In 1959, the first ever tubular steel roller coaster was created. The Matterhorn bobsled roller coaster was built for Disneyland, in Anaheim, California. 9.Cedar Point theme park has the highest number of roller coasters, with 17 different rides to choose from. 10.In 1959, the first ever tubular steel roller coaster was created. Roller Coasters In Action

In the past I have been on many rollercoasters. I gave been on about a million and a half. Some of my favorites are: El Toro, Nas, Superman, Bizzaro, The Hulk, and the classic Boulderdash. Boulderdash being my first coaster, was a fun and exciting ride for me and still is. When you ride one you get an adrenaline rush and have fun.
