The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3 Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your Heart, Pt. 8
III. Faith Resting in God is Developed through Different Kinds of Trust.
A. Compliant Trust Compliant means, “yielding or being submissive to a request or demand, or being obedient.”
In the Greek “obedient” is a cognate of AKOUO and means to perceive Bible Doctrine through the ear gate, hearing.)
“Compliant Trust” means if the Lord says it, you do it, with no “questions”, “ifs”, “buts” or “ands”, knowing that this is the best thing for you and others.
Gen 7:5, “Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.” Cf. Gen 22:7-8
“Compliant Trust” means that we learn and understand the principles and precepts of God’s Word and then apply them faithfully each and every day.
If not, then we are trusting in ourselves, other people, our prosperity, the world, Satan’s Cosmic System, etc.
Psa 40:8, “I delight to do Your will, O my God, Your Law is within my heart.”
Mat 16:24-25, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it”.”
Be yielded to God so that your spiritual life will be brought forth into fellowship with Him as you do His Will.
B. Confident Trust “Confidence” - MIBTACH, “trust, confidence, refuge or security.” Confident, “Having assurance or certainty.”
Confidence, “To trust in a person or thing, an intimate and trusting relationship; something confided such as a secret; a feeling of assurance or certainty.”
Eph 3:11-12, “This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.”
Cf. Gen 24:7; 30:24; 35:18; 1 Kings 17:12-16
When a crisis arises it instantly reveals to ourselves whom we rely upon.
If we have been learning God’s Word and placing our trust in Him during the calm, then when the crisis comes we can go to the point of breaking, yet without breaking our confidence in Him, Phil 1.
Psa 27:3, “Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident.” Cf. Heb 10:34-36
Prov 3:25-26, “Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; 26 For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”
Prov 14:26, “In the fear/reverence of the LORD there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge.”
Psa 71:5, “For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth.” Our confidence should not be in ourselves.
Phil 3:3, “For we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.”
Our prayer life will also demonstrate our source of confidence. When we are 100% trusting in the Lord He will hear and answer our prayers.
Heb 4:16, “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
1 John 3:21-22, “Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.”
1 John 5:14-15, “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”
