The Wharton-INSEAD PhD Exchange was established to promote international scholarship and collaborative research with members of each school’s faculty. Examples of collaboration include use of technology-supported training and joint dissertation committees. Currently, Wharton PhD candidates are engaged in nine fields of specialization. Each student works closely with distinguished faculty members in programs developed to meet individual research interests and professional goals. Since PhD students have crossed campuses to collaborate on research. One requirement of the PhD student exchange program is that the visiting PhD student be sponsored by a faculty member of the host school sharing the same research area of interest. PhD Exchange program processes were established and implemented to provide consistency across departments and schools. Having consistency ensures compliance with both schools policies and procedures along with a centralized repository for all PhD data and information.

PhD Exchange:  Possibility of spending from one term to one year at INSEAD (Fontainebleau or Singapore campus) to work with Wharton faculty at INSEAD, or INSEAD faculty sharing same research area of interest.  Funding may be available through the Alliance Center for Global Research and Education.  Conditional on completion of first year of study and success in qualifying examination at Wharton  INSEAD courses over 5 periods:  P1: Sept-Oct; P2: Nov-Dec; P3: Jan-Feb; P4: March-Apr; P5: May-June PhD Collaboration:  Six INSEAD PhD Students have visited Wharton  Five Wharton PhD Students visited INSEAD in May-June 2009 and two in May-June 2010  Five joint doctoral dissertation committees have been set up  In , two new faculty will start their careers at INSEAD, recruited from Wharton PhD program Further Information: Contact: Mallory Hiatt (Associate Director, PhD Program); Linda Kaelin (Alliance Manager, Wharton)
