Breastfeeding policy: -Exclusive BF, Duration, Complementary feeding, Feeding during emergencies, Maternity and Paternity protection, capacity building, BF committees, BMS code

Indicator Policy and program BF committee Printing and distribution of the policy First consultative meeting Training of the health workers on the provision in the policies and programs 1 st draft of the policy by 3 rd qtr of the year Presentation to the CCM and national assembly implementation

Indicator BFHI Training of all the health workers working closely with mother and child on BFHI/lactation management. Revive the existing BFHI (national referral hospital) Expansion of BFHI to two regional referral hospitals in 2010 and thereafter 5 district hospitals. External consultant to certify the hospital as BFHI in the 3 rd qtr of the year.

Indicator The code/ legislation TA to develop code/legislation in line with the international code on BMS implemen tation Training of health workers on the provision of code on BMS Create general awareness of the code and its provision on BMS

Indicator Maternity protection Review of breastfeeding policy, which will address issues like maternity/paternity leave, nursing breaks, worksite nursing places. The provision for both formal and non formal settings.
