Needs (UCTE, regional, bilateral)Constraints of the current format Operational -DACF -Reference cases -Snapshots, etc Even if sufficient for operational processes in many cases, the models are very often an input to system studies processes System studies -Planning (TYNDS) -Various studies (system extension, wind integration, etc) -Load flow: limitations in modelling of detailed generation, three-winding transformers, shunts, etc. -Dynamics: not included - A lot of software tools are being used among the UCTE TSOs - The idea about a mutual acceptance of another existing commercial format as a standard for data exchanges is not supported

(Important decisions) November 2007: UCTE agreed to launch an initiative for development of new UCTE XML based data exchange format that will considered as a standard for exchange of load flow and dynamic data and allows performing of all kind of analyses as follows: steady state, unbalanced short circuit and dynamic analyses. AhG UCTE format was established. May 2008: UCTE SC approved –the cooperation of AhG “UCTE format” with international organizations aiming at inclusion of UCTE needs into international standard –the UCTE participation in EPRI project (CIM for Dynamics) Summer 2008: UCTE joins the EPRI Project and creates a liaison with IEC TC57. UCTE CIM TF is established during CIMug meeting in Vasteras (June 2008)

It will be used and maintained as long as CIM /XML format is used -Developed by EDF R&D -to convert from UCTE CIM to UCTE DEF (current version: version 02) and vice versa - to be used during the migration stage

page 8 Seite Aufzählung UCTE view on CIM development and maintenance It is necessary to maintain a stable CIM version and clear roadmap for CIM development. –Establishment of clearly defined external consultation process before approval of next release by IEC. –A reference file for every version or implementation of version control system from CIM sharepoint or EA. Regular reports/announcements on ongoing projects (issued by CIMug or IEC)
