So far so good, but how do I find the data? It is search engine like
So you can search by PI research vessel parameter region etc.
In order to have access to the data you have to login!
You can view the data on screen Not public
Or download it
Now I have a file – I had one before I delivered the data, but what is the advantage? And what can I do with the data afterwards?
Since all the data is archived in a relational data base and the export format is always the same - can you easily convert the data to different formats e. g. Ocean Data View - by using a converter relational data base
Pan2Applic – converter for data from PANGAEA / WDC-MARE Can be downloaded using the url And is available for Windows, Mac and Linux
A few easy steps to visualize data and/or combine data sets Download the data from the data portal Drag’n’drop the data (you can use a folder or single files) to the converter Pan2Applic (please install it) Choose the software Choose the parameters And take a look using e.g. ODV
Example: First Drag’n’drop the folder on the icon of Pan2Applic And choose the porgram (ODV recommendend) and confirm
Then choose Date/Time as the geocode and confirm. Afterwards choose the parameters to shall be displayed.
Define the range (default is enough) and wait until the data is converted. Afterwards is Ocean Data View automatically opened and you can start working with the data. A manual for ODV can be found under
