Applications Leak detection and emission monitoring tasks, such as natural gas line surveys, tank inspections, landfill emission monitoring, gas well testing, plant safety audits … The sensor is only sensitive for methane. Due to this, there are no false readings.

Working Principle The concept is based on Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy. A laser light in the spectral range of 1,65 μm is emitted.

Working Principle The laser light is reflected at the background and captured back in the instrument. The outgoing and incoming signals are compared with a built-in reference cell. ~ 100 %

Working Principle If there is methane gas present along the laser path, the laser light is partially absorbed. An algorithm calculates the gas concentration in ppm*m (parts per million multiplied by meter). ~ 100 %

Components Micro SD card Laser Methane Mini-G gas detector LMm Data Logger with integrated GPS and Data Recorder UAV, flight controller, mounts, cameras … cannot be provided from Pergam.

Technical Specification Target Gas Methane (CH4) and methane-containing gases (natural gas and similar) Detection Units ppm*m Detection Limits 1 ~ 50,000 ppm*m Detection Speed 0.1 seconds Distance 1.5 ft. – 100 ft. | 0.5 - 30 meters Operating Time Approx. 5 hours Laser (Guide Light) Output wavelength: 532nm, Output level: 5mW (Class 3R) or less Laser (Measurement Light) Output wavelength: 1653nm, Output level: 10mW (Class 1) or less Operating Temperature -1.4°F - 120°F | -17°C - 50°C Operating Humidity 30 - 90 % (no dew condensation)

Influencing Factors Vibrations from UAV. Use a gimbal or other vibration eliminating mounts for the installation. Altitude: the smaller the distance between sensor and background, the higher the sensitivity. For optimum results, always fly as low as possible. Wind: consider the wind direction. Once determined, always fly the sensor downwind. The laser needs to ‘cut’ the gas cloud. Shiny surfaces like water or ice don’t reflect sufficient energy back to the instrument.
