5 th Grade Challenge Day Our focus will be on Math Students will be placed in groups based on ability in math. Students will rotate within the classroom Students will have the opportunity to move up or down throughout the school year based on individual student need Any homework your child is assigned on Monday will be due on Wednesday

Behavior Management/Terrific Tuesdays The entire fifth grade team will incorporate a Terrific Tuesday, where the students will be able to earn extra recess time. Those students who have not earned this time will be provided an opportunity to make up class work and homework.

Late Work Policy Late work will not be accepted after 5 school days. The highest grade for a late assignment is a 80. Work not turned in after 5 school days will not be accepted and will count as a zero. ALL work is expected to be completed on time.

Field Trips 5th grade has the opportunity to go on several exciting field trips that follow our curriculum. This money goes towards the cost of entry to each place as well as two buses for each trip. Below is the schedule of field trips and an estimate of the cost for each trip (prices are subject to change once planned). Sept 26.- Oakland Cemetery October 17, 8, TBA- Atlanta History Center, Cyclorama, Kennesaw Mountain November – Ellis Island Simulation (Here at school) December– Inman Middle School January – Bio Bus (wait list) February TBA - Aviation Museum February TBA- Bremen Museum March TBA- And Then They Came For Me (play here at school)- PTA March TBA- Civil Rights Museum May TBA- CNN Center May TBA – Stone Mt./5th Grade T-Shirt - $35 We are also looking for a play that we can attend as a group…TBA *Permission slips and money are due by the deadline that is provided on the field trip form. Students will not be allowed to call home to get permission to attend, if the form is not turned in by the deadline.
