Alcohol Abuse and the Digestive System made by Jordan Hall

The Digestive System The Digestive System is made up of several main sections The mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestines, and large intestines

The Digestive System

How does the Digestive system work? It starts at the mouth then it goes all the way thought out the body.

What is Alcohol Abuse? The use of alcohol has a negative effect on your life, but the person continues to drink anyways Its an addiction If people are drinking each day its recommended for a women to have 1 a day and recommended for men is 2 a day.

Benefits of alcohol Drinking reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes But… the problems from drinking outweigh any benefits

Alcohol abuse vs. Social drinking Having a glass at dinner is an occasional drink and needing a glass everyday is alcohol abuse

Alcoholism and Malnutrition Alcohol fills you up so you don’t eat as much. The impact of alcohol on the digestion of food can lead to malabsorbtion when they do eat.

How does alcohol effect the Digestive System? Did you know there are lots of problems caused by alcohol Alcohol causes the risk of mouth cancer A heart burn is frequently caused by excessive alcohol intake

The other problems are… It can cause damage to the stomach lining or can cause stomach cancer Alcohol abuse causes small intestines cancer It causes alcohol liver diseases There are lots of other diseases. There is some detail on the next page.

Alcohol causes all kinds of diseases in the Digestive System. The amount of diseases that are in the digestive system are 11 and I only named 5 for you today.

Prevent harm to the digestive system Don’t drink (may be an addict) Recommended levels are 1 for women and 2 for men per day

Destroying your body by drinking When you have about four drink’s a day it can cause organ damage. It all basically poisons you!

My Opining In my opinion Its best to stay away from drinks at all time, in order to live well. It’s that simple. I know lots of people who drink, my father and one of my grandfather’s and all my uncles and lots of people on my street. Only one of my grandfathers drink and the other one did but now he is not and he is in AA he ahs stopped for along time.

When people drink it can be enjoy able for some. It allows them to socialize easier and relax after a hard day. There is a positive and negative impact’s. if people get addicted it can destroy there life.

There are some treatments Treatments Goal- abstinence (no alcohol) eg. A.A (Alcoholics Anonymous) peer support So this is a program and I have people in with them and it is grate the people in it are all so nice and everyone supports and cares for each other there.

More treatments Alcoholic must admit there’s a problem with alcohol There’s 3 stages Stage1- detox Stage2- rehabilitation Sage3- Maintenance of sobriety

Harm Reduction - still drink - drink less - cause less harm to the body - not drunk

thank you for watching I hope you learned allot about the Digestive System and Alcohol Abuse
